State Nutrition Laws

It is likely that there will eventually be as many different state regulations related to restaurant menu nutrition as we have states. Yes, it could be that complicated. Some experts suggest that the federal government may get involved sooner than later. However, this remains to be seen.

In the restaurant industry, state and local regulations have resulted in variable and sometimes conflicting requirements. For example, the California menu labeling law, enacted in 2008, requires restaurants with 20 or more locations in the state to post caloric content, carbohydrates, saturated fat, trans fat, and sodium content.

The New Jersey menu labeling law, enacted in 2010, requires chain restaurants with 20 or more locations nationally to display calorie content for all items sold on all drive-thru and indoor menu boards.

New York City, perhaps the most widely publicized example, enacted legislation in 2008 to require restaurants that are part of a chain with 15 or more locations nationally to post calorie content. If you have visited New York City you will easy recognize this information and even catch it posted on the vendors serving beer at sporting events. Check out their buttons sometime and you will find out how many calories that beer contains.

You can advertise AND support non-profit programs. Run a banner for a 5 or 6 months and send an autistic child to camp, or sponsor an international child for 5 months, or provide 6 school backpacks for homeless children.

Menu Mama may be the only mobile app who spends all or the majority of your ad money on giving back to charities. Contact us for more detail.

Your banner ad can run in your community for $150 for an entire 5 months or for a full year for only $300. We are serious about our support for non-profits. Our app was created to support and help people. We want to do the same for companies who want to support charitable programs. It is truly that simple.

Also, do you have a charity your business supports. We want to know about it. Tell us how we can help.
